Electroplating Process

Process - Electroplating Process | Engraving Process | Etching Process

Various processes are used to make delicate jewelry. All the processes make the jewelry more beautiful, wearable, and exquisite in nature.

New technological developments are further enhancing the kind of jewelry worn by individuals.

One of the foremost processes that are used to make designer fashion jewelry is electroplating.

Electroplating is essentially a procedure wherein a coat of metal is given to any object by a process that is chemical in nature.

Today, a large amount of fashion jewelry goes through this process to give dynamic and highly captivating finishes to the jewelry. This makes the jewelry unique and also increases its visual appeal.

The process of electroplating takes place when a negative charge is created in the object by immersing it into a solution of electrolyte.

The salt of the metal that has to be coated one the object is present in the electrolyte solution. The ions in the salt of the metal have a positive charge that eventually get attracted to the object that is negatively charged.

The metal ions finally get deposited on the object. Another object that is a part of the process of electroplating is the electrode.

One end of the electrode is made of pure metals and it is this end that is immersed in the solution of electrolyte.

The stability of the solution is maintained under the aegis of this pure metal.

Normally, brass is a metal that undergoes the process of electroplating to coat it with nickel silver. But, this is not the only combination that is available.

The combinations are dependant on the kind of jewelry. The final product that is obtained by electroplating is available in a myriad of finishes and textures.

The durability of electroplating depends on the thickness of the coating. Good electroplating leads to the making of jewelry that has reliability as well as superior visual appeal.
